Instagram Q&A

Hi guys~!
So I asked my followers on my Instagram account if they had any questions regarding stuff about me/my cosplay/etc. so I had something to post on my blogspot.
Here are the questions and my answers, I hope they are... informative? Haha.

1.       How long have you been cosplaying?
I’ve been cosplaying seriously/officially since the end of July/August. So, for about nine or ten months? ^^;; (I’m bad at counting please don’t yell at me if that’s wrong;; )

2.       Why did you start cosplaying?
(This is really long omg ahh sorry ^^”)
Well, I first became interested in anime/manga/Vocaloid when I was about 11 years old. I knew about cosplay but I never considered it (thinking I wouldn’t be allowed) until I was 14 (in 2012). When I was 14 I found out there was going to be a cosplay group in my city’s annual parade-thing and, considering I live in a small city in Australia, the fact that something like cosplay was happening was very exciting. So all of a sudden, I really wanted to cosplay! Unfortunately I didn’t have any cosplay, so I went along with a friend and my family to watch the parade and met a Rin and Miku cosplayer. I was, being a big fan of Vocaloid, extremely excited, and I swore to myself to have a cosplay by the next year so I could join the group myself (in 2013).

In the next year, during March and April, I randomly started looking up the cosplay hashtag on Instagram and was inspired by many cosplayers such as MomoSweetCosplay and Rinnaayycosplay. I especially was fond of them because they cosplayed Rin, ahahaha. I was still really eager to buy a Rin cosplay of my own but my mum was (still is) kind of edgy about online shopping and didn’t want to ;w; At the end of May (a day after my birthday) I travelled to Japan for a 5-week-long homestay program that only three other people and I got accepted into. It was very exciting because I love Japan and it was a dream come true. Whilst I was over there I went to a BODYLINE shop in Harajuku and saw a Rin cosplay being sold really cheap (and it was accurate/nice quality too). Well – how could I not buy it?!

Yes, I did buy it… and it’s the same cosplay I wear now. I also met some amazing Vocaloid cosplayers on Yume no Oohashi (Bridge of Dreams) in Odaiba. They inspired me even more!

So, well, basically I then made an Instagram account dedicated to my  cosplay (rinrinrinnie) and participated in many of the cosplay club events, including the parade. And that’s it. Kind of boring, I’m sorry, ahaha.

3.       What is your favourite cosplay that you’ve done?
I only have 2 and ¾ of cosplays (the ¾ being Len and Mirai, oops). So I guess it really counts out of Rin and Miku—and well, it’s definitely Rin. She’s who got me into cosplay, I guess. And she’s adorable and my favourite Vocaloid character alongside Len ;//w//;

4.       What’s the most satisfying part of cosplaying?
Well, I enjoy cosplay because I get to become someone I’m really not. It’s like I’ve transformed like a magical girl, hahaha. I really love how different I can look from me just from putting on some makeup and a wig. And I love people’s reactions too xD

5.       What’s the most frustrating part of cosplaying?
It can get very costly if you can’t sew for shiz (like me) and when you can’t get your makeup right, instead of putting you in a good mood, you get really angry! Also having to wait for your cosplay in the mail when all you want to do is wear it ;w; And I hate how wigs give me tension headaches and how hot I get in cosplay (it’s so hard to even live when you put it on during summer, I could just die).
Sometimes with cosplay as well I can also feel like I don’t cosplay very good after seeing someone else with cosplay I have and them being praised for it. When it comes to cosplay as well, I dislike cosplaying the same characters as another because I feel I’m getting compared/that I’m not good enough ;n;

6.       Are you single?
Yes. However I’m not too worried about rushing into a relationship at the moment. I’m only 15 (technically 16 at the end of May this year) and I think people put too much pressure on others to feel like they need a partner. Also, a lot of boys my age/around my age are… well, not interested in me and I find them too immature anyway xD; I would prefer to wait and find someone who is worth it, and isn’t going to try and get in my pants ASAP or judge me for what I do c:

7.       Favourite Vocaloid songs?
I have a lot but whenever someone asks this question I usually recommend Hayakawa-P’s The Rise and Fall of the Psychic Girl (part of the Girl series, which I love, mmhmm dayumn OTP shipping all the way), God-P’s Glass Slippers and Giga-P’s Childish War.

8.       How tall are you?
I’m 158cm. Or 159cm. I have no idea, but one of those is probably correct.

9.       What kind of ketchup do they have in Australia?
Um, most of us call ketchup tomato sauce for one xD… However I think McDonald’s still calls their sauce ketchup. Anyway, we have things like Heinz and MasterFood.
…and that’s all I know, because I like their sauce. I like tomato sauce, and if I wouldn’t get hit for it I would live off tomato sauce sandwiches… totally healthy.

So, yeah... If you have any more questions please ask and once I get enough I'll post an updated version of this~

I also have a big SpreePicky unsponsored review planned for once it comes in the mail. Some of it includes the rest of my Mirai Kuriyama cosplay which I'm very eager to put on *^*//

And I do have a video review planned for when I get my new circle lenses. It will be posted on my YouTube and I will also post a link to it on here with a quick overview of the video review c:

Please keep an eye out!

New reviews coming soon!

Hi everyone!

So I will be posting more reviews soon, hopefully. I just recently received my petticoat for lolita fashion from lightinthebox.com, however there's currently a cyclone heading towards where I live so the weather is too bad to properly dress up in lolita and take some pictures, unfortunately.
Hopefully sometime next week I'll be able to get some shots and write up a quick review on it, so stay tuned!

I also will have to purchase another pair of contacts to replace the ones I already have because they're getting close to needing a replacement and it's better to be safe than sorry. Instead of buying EOS Fairy Blue I was thinking of trying either Super Pinky Blue or G&G Aloha Blue to see if they were any more comfortable.
In addition, if I'm allowed to, I want to buy a pair of brown lenses for casual wear and my upcoming Mirai Kuriyama cosplay, and I'm thinking of either Vassen Latte Brown or Beuberry Merry Brown.

So hopefully I'll have a few reviews coming in the next couple of weeks!

Thanks for reading.

PinkyParadise EOS Fairy Blue Review

Here's my first review!

I tried hiding my sunburn sorry for the "secret" thing ;;w;;

PinkyParadise EOS Fairy Blue

Natural eye colour: Brown
Diameter: 14.5mm
Water Content: 38%
Base Curve: 8.8mm
Life Span: 9-12 months.
Prescription: Yes.
Colour: 5/5. These were my second pair of blue circle lenses I’d owned (the first pair I bought in Japan). I bought them for the sake of Cosplay, as I really wanted to Cosplay the character Rin Kagamine, however did not have the correct eye colour. The colour in these were 100% better than the contacts I’d previously had, as they show up pretty fantastically on my dark eyes. In real life, they’re pretty noticeable and I’ve gotten heaps of compliments, and people commenting on how “blue” my eyes are. They blend really well with my natural colour, and when you’re not close up they actually look pretty realistic. The colour of them is spot on—they’re great for Rin, and because of their light colour, actually suit Miku as well!
Although, these contacts may not always show solidly in photos that have bad lighting (unless you use filters), but that isn’t too much of an issue for me as I was looking more for ones you can notice in real life as opposed to in bad-quality photos.
Enlargement: 5/5. I wasn’t too worried about enlargement; however, a small enlargement was perfectly fine. These succeeded and they give me that super kawaii, dolly-eyed look which is great for Cosplay. Because of their size they’re not too unrealistic either. Personally I could probably go bigger if I wanted, haha.
Comfort: 4/5. The only issue with these is that I find them a little dry. I will usually need to pop eye drops into my eyes after around 3-4 hours to ease them a little, and I find I will feel them in more often as time goes on. I can’t say I would forget having these in because of their slight dryness, however I suppose it varies, as I believe I have slightly dry eyes naturally because even with my normal prescription lenses they still get dry after a while. I will probably go for lenses with higher water content next time to avoid this!
Customer service: 5/5. When these lenses first arrived and after soaking them for 12+ hours, I tried them out to find my right contact was unnaturally uncomfortable. I consulted the FAQ and ended up emailing a support ticket to PinkyParadise and got a reply within the next day, where I had to fill out a damage/faulty lens report. After I had done so, I got a reply back immediately saying they would replace my faulty lens. A few days later I received my replacement and was satisfied. PinkyParadise had prompt replies and sorted out the problem with ease, which I’m very grateful for!
Whenever you buy contact lenses from PinkyParadise you get a free cute animal case with your contacts too. C:
Also, these are my only circle lenses at the moment, and I pretty much use them for all my cosplays that I own. I hope to buy more in the future though.

Thanks for reading! ^w^

About me and places you can find me at

Hello, I'm Kayla. I'm a 15 year old from Australia, and cosplay is my hobby!
You can call me Kayla, Rin or Rinnie.
I've been cosplaying since July 2013. I've been interested in anime, manga and cosplay since I was about 11 years old (almost five years). I'm not a pro at my hobby; I'm still learning and I only have a couple of cosplays. Hopefully the numbers increase.
My favourite colour is orange, my favourite foods are, well, a lot..., and my favourite drinks are bubble tea/tapioca, tea, and any grape-flavoured drink. c:

I love, love, love the Japanese culture (fashion, food, traditions, language, people - literally everything!) and alongside that, I love drawing and playing the piano. I draw realism and manga, and I study art at school.
Besides that, I study Japanese (I've been studying it since grade 4; however, effectively studying it since year 8), and I've done home-stay in Japan for over a month and visited another time for two weeks on a class trip (both last year). I love Japan, in case you haven't already read my reiterations in the above text, and I'm studying really hard to become the best I can in Japanese while I'm staying in Australia so I can earn a scholarship to study at a university over there.
I'm not sure on any future careers (I would love to become a professional cosplayer or to do something with fashion or art but those are awfully difficult careers to become successful in ^^"), but I have my heart set on at least living in Japan for a while or forever, so I'm considering options such as teaching English. However, anything can happen, so...

If it isn't any more obvious, I am a big fan of VOCALOID, especially Rin and Len Kagamine. They are my ultimate favourites and I love them immensely. I currently own a Rin cosplay and I'm working on a Len. I'm not really up with the times with VOCALOID (the newer VOCALOID don't interest me very much) but I'm sure I can ramble on about Rin and Len until the sun goes down, haha.

Anyway, here are some other websites/places you can follow me on -
